TYPES OF WOODEN FLOORING

At  Floor Sanding Croydon our lovely floors come in a number of different forests which all have their own beauty, strengths and characteristics.

Ash
Ash is a really strong wood, roughly 10% harder than oak, also has a number of applications, including furniture and sports equipment in addition to flooring. Ash is light coloured, ranging from white to medium brown and gives a fresh look.

Beech
Native to Britain, the beech tree provides strong wood that's about exactly the same strength as oak.

Birch
Birch flooring is an elegant option for a home. It is a light colored wood which finishes with an appealing satin-like sheen. Birch is softer than oak and therefore is very good for shock absorption.

Cherry
Cherry wood flooring provides an attractive and warm feel and is ideal for homes with a traditional look. The timber has a light red colour that can darken over time. It's 25% softer than oak flooring so has good shock absorption qualities.

Jarrah
Jarrah is a strong wood which makes beautiful and strong floors. The unusual wood has a profound finish, which range from a red to purplish colour. This exceptional look gives a distinctive feel to a room.

Jatoba
The odd jatoba tree is an exotic species that provides a timber with a wealthy red/pinkish colour. It's a very hard wood that makes excellent durable flooring.

Maple

There are two sorts of maple wood, European walnut (which is actually sycamore) that is often used in chopping boards since it has no odor or taste, and hard maple that's 30 percent harder than oak.

Merbau
Merbau is among the most difficult types of wood. The red-brown wood sometimes has yellowish flecks inside that offers a lustre unique to this kind of hardwood flooring.

Oak
Among the most popular types of hardwood floors, oak is hard, durable and appealing. White oak is particularly popular because of its long, straight grain and that it may be stained to any colour.

Rosewood
Rosewood is a particularly dark wood which has a somewhat broader appearance. It is a very common wood since it is attractive in addition to durable and strong. It's a hardwood so ideal for flooring.

Walnut
Walnut wood has an attractive chocolate color. The dark flooring is ideal if you want an antique, rustic appearance, but is just beautiful in a crisp white ultra contemporary interior. Walnut is extremely strong and durable, which makes it perfect for hardwood flooring.
